About Lexie
Allexis (Lexie) lives in Brisbane, Australia and has 18 years’ experience in the Childcare industry. Shortly before being diagnosed with FND Allexis had decided to make a slight career change and study to teach adults Early Childhood. Having experienced some eye issues for the past 6 years last year Allexis suddenly lost some eyesight.  A week later she experienced whole body tingling and after a week of that collapsed at the hospital from exhaustion. Allexis went on to spend 9 days in hospital before being diagnosed with FND. Determined to gain control of the situation, before leaving hospital she had decided to do everything she could to manage the symptoms. It was at this point Allexis had joined the FND Hope Facebook support groups. Allexis had found the groups and the members to be so supportive that it helped greatly with understanding and coming to terms herself with the disorder. So inspired and wanting to do more, Allexis reached out to FND Hope to volunteer her time and was offered the position of Admin for the Aus/Nz and International group. Shortly after this time Allexis was offered the position of helping to train new admins on Facebook. Allexis found this position rewarding as she was able to use her people skills and assist others in how to deal with challenging situations while learning key aspects of being a volunteer.
Lexie, with the help of a great admin team, provide support to patients from around the world through various online peer to peer FND Hope sponsored support groups. We thank Lexie and her team for volunteering to assist others in their FND journey.
